In this wintry off season we look forward to the OASA minor season for 2010. Always on our agenda is finding appropriate sites for our tournaments. Ideally we like to have our three Elimination sites confirmed by the previous fall's AGM . At January's OA Executive meetings (this year January 9-10 2010) we like to confirm received bids and be able to assign remaining tournaments for Provincials and Qualifiers. As we attempt to base the seeding of our A and B provincials from the results of our Elimination and Qualifier tournaments this exercise often proves challenging. This year the Junior Mite Provincial moves to its own weekend (August 7-8 2010). The Midge Provincial A tournament moves to July 17-18 2010 while the Midget B and C tournaments remain at their former August weekend date. Once again in August 2010 the OA plans to sponsor a Select Provincial for each of our five minor divisions. If your centre is interested in hosting an OA tournament this upcoming summer please submit a bid or contact any member of the Minor Committee for more information. New centres are always welcome.

In 2009 the OA awarded Most Valuable Pitching Awards at all three of its Elimination tournaments. OASA crests were presented to to all Mite and Squirt (non medal) participants at our Provincial tournaments. In 2010 the most notable change will be one of safety as the minor divisions move towards full implementation of the batting helmet face guard. Mite and Squirt OA tournaments will intriduce this safety feature in 2010.

The Minor Committee has a full slate of members representing all areas of our fastball province. New members to the committee for 2010 are Sheryl French from Napanee and Gary Lockey from Brantford. Minor Committee members are always rady and willing to answer your questions about any aspect of our minor OA program.
